Attach Banners With Zip Ties
Installation Guide >> Fastening Vinyl Banners >> Using Zip Ties
Using zip ties are the preferred method for securing banners to surfaces within close proximity to where the banner will be attached and provides for looping the zip tie around the surface in order to secure the banner to the installation area. Areas that fit this application include attaching banners to a chain link fence, a pedestrian traffic barricade, or to one of our professional banner frames. Zip ties are super strong, and their tightening mechanism, as long as you do not over tighten, can be continually adjusted for each grommet hole at the time of installation to provide the exact amount of desired tautness needed for perfect positioning.
For areas where excess winds may exist, or if you plan on suspending your banner over a bridge, across a walkway, or between two parallel ropes or guide-wires, we recommend using 175 pound zip ties in every grommet hole for added safety and durability.
It is very important to loosely apply zip ties to each grommet hole initially during installation. Zip ties tighten, but they do not loosen, and over tightening your zip ties early in your banner installation will only result in having to start over. Besides, adjusting the tautness of your banner after your zip ties are loosely fastened, makes it easier to better position your banner symmetrically within your frame.
Zip ties are versatile enough to be used to hang or attach banners both for indoor campaigns or for outdoor events. When installing your banners using zip ties, we suggest starting by loosely securing one of the top corner grommet holes and working your way to the adjacent top corner.
Once the top grommets are loosely secured, we suggest repeating this same process for the bottom edge of your banner. If your banner is large enough, additional side grommet holes will exist and should be tied once the top and bottom edges are secured. When all your grommet holes have been fastened, start tightening all of the zip ties being sure to keep your banner's positioning level to optimize its presentation value.
Always be sure to check with local ordinances and safety requirements when installing your banners to be sure you are in compliance with local statutes and safety standards. eSigns has placed this recommendation for assistance only and makes no claims, express or implied, as to the safety of this fastener or the recommendation by which to use this fastener for hanging banners.
